What our filter does.

We have FILTR tested in independent laboratories. On this page you will find what was tested, under what conditions and what the results were.

>99% reduction in PFOA, PFOS, PFHxA and PFDoS, also after 150 liters, at the end of the filter's lifespan
99.99% reduction in bacteria (E. coli), also after 150 liters, at the end of the filter's lifespan
150 L tested up to the end of the filter's lifespan, not just with a new filter

What this means. PFOA and PFOS are the best-known and most studied PFAS. Even at the end of the filter's lifespan, FILTR removes all five mentioned PFAS by 99% or more. If you replace your filter every month (or after 150 liters), you will stay within the lifespan we have tested.

How we test

  • PFAS was tested in an independent, ISO/IEC 17025-accredited lab in the EU, according to the European standard EN 17892. The test water contained PFAS concentrations far above the European drinking water standard, much higher than what is found in Dutch tap water. Measured with a new filter and after 150 liters.
  • Bacteria were tested by SGS, one of the largest testing institutes in the world: water with millions of E. coli bacteria per 100 ml passed through the filter at several points during its lifespan.
  • The filter material was tested in the lab for legionella, lead and PCBs, among other things, partly by independent institutes.
The technology

Fine filter material that attracts dirt

At the heart of FILTR is Finnish filter material with activated carbon. It works in three ways at the same time:

  • Electrical charge. The fibers have a natural positive charge. Most very small particles in water are negatively charged and are therefore attracted and held.
  • Fine pores. With pores of approximately 1.2 to 1.5 microns (a hair is about 70 microns thick), larger particles are mechanically stopped.
  • Activated carbon. Binds substances such as PFAS to the enormous surface area of the carbon and also improves taste and smell.

The filter material complies with NSF/ANSI 42.

How to get the most out of your filter

Test results apply to the conditions under which testing was conducted. Therefore, these are the conditions FILTR is designed for:

  • Tap water. FILTR is intended for (Dutch) tap water, at home and on the go.
  • Replace every month or after 150 liters. This way you stay within the lifespan we have tested, and the filter remains hygienic.

Last updated: October 2026. Results apply to the tested samples under the described test conditions.
