our Story

Amersfoort, January 2026. More than 85,000 households had to boil their tap water for almost two weeks after the intestinal bacterium E. coli was found in the drinking water. Earlier, the same thing happened in Apeldoorn, where E. coli was detected and supermarket shelves were emptied of bottled water. It got us thinking: we take clean water for granted, but what is actually in it?

The more we looked into it, the more we came across PFAS. These are chemicals found in all kinds of products, such as cosmetics, packaging, and clothing. According to the RIVM, they barely break down, spread through the environment, and many Dutch people consume more than is healthy through food and drinking water. Research by Greenpeace also shows that in more than a third of Dutch households, there is more PFAS in the tap water than the RIVM recommends. The water meets the legal standards, but the RIVM has been calling for a much stricter limit for years.

Then we asked ourselves: why isn't there a strong Dutch brand for a water filter bottle that demonstrably reduces PFAS? A bottle for every day, at home and on the go, with a filter that has really been tested. That brand is now here: FILTR. We spent a year looking for the right filter, the right materials, and the right partners. Only when an independent, accredited lab confirmed that our filter reduces PFAS, even at the end of the filter's lifespan, did we know: this is FILTR.

What is in our tap water?
Let's be clear: Dutch tap water is of high quality. It naturally contains minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and sodium. At the same time, it contains traces of substances that shouldn't be there, such as PFAS. FILTR therefore adds an extra filtration step, so you can enjoy fresher, filtered tap water everywhere.

Whether you are at home, at the office, at the gym, or on the go: you fill your FILTR at the tap and drink directly from the bottle.

What it does
Our carbon filter from Finland reduces:

  • PFOA, PFOS, PFHxA, and PFDoS by more than 99%, even at the end of the filter's lifespan (150 liters)
  • Bacteria such as E. coli by 99.99%
  • Unwanted taste and odor

While retaining the minerals that are naturally in your tap water. Tested in an independent, accredited EU lab.

Clean water for everyone, at home and on the go.

We filter out what shouldn't be there. For less single-use plastic and more respect for water and nature.
